About Chapter 7 Monologue Jura 21 Year Old

A narrow channel separates Jura and Islay. But the whiskies from these two Scottish Islands are very different. Jura whiskies offer power, but none of the intense peat smoke of Jura.

Archibald Campbell founded the Isle of Jura distillery in 1810 and named it Small Isles Distillery. Eight years after the License Act of 1823, William Abercombie obtained a license for the distillery. He also changed the name to Isle Of Jura. The name comes from Old Norse for ‘deer island’. An apt name for an island where deer outnumber people.

What we like about Jura is the oily texture and salty maritime character. It's got with soot and smoke that goes beyond the grassy fruitiness. This bourbon hogshead, aged 21 years, is a perfect example of an untempered, flawless Jura.
